Blue Hues w/Depot Town Big Band
May 25th at 5:00pm
Join us for big band magic with Blue Hues and The Depot Town Big Band live on our concert hall stage! Mark Pappas has been a mainstay and behind-the-scenes hero in the Ypsilanti music scene for years. He is a former instructor at EMU and host of the Old Tower Inn sessions. Mark’s music ranges from edgy sci-fi inspired anthems, to tender waltzes and ballads. This band is finally premiering music as the newly formed Blue Hues Big Band with all new arrangements.
The debut at The YPSI features Ingrid Racine on trumpet and Ann Arbor native Rowan Tucker-Meyer on piano as well as the trombone magic of Detroiter Zoe Cutler. Other featured soloists include UM Professor of Music Andrew Bishop along with Detroit reedist Mark Kieme. Others include Jordan Rattner on guitar, Jon Blanchette on the drums…. and more!

The Taming of the Shrew
Experience Shakespeare- with a twist! This special performance of Taming of the Shrew, is still set in Renaissance Italy but with one small change- all of the roles are gender reversed!
The original script tells of two young women pursued by a dozen men whose gallivanting is funded by their rich fathers.
This Brevity Shakespeare production directed by Veronica Long will feature two young men courted by a dozen women whose gallivanting is funded by their rich mothers. Petruchio, Western literature's original gaslighter, becomes Petruchia; Kate, his target, becomes Nate; and the lissome Bianca becomes Beau.

A non-partisan group of area residents of various political views meeting for the purpose of respectfully discussing current events, ideas, and sharing information. Founded by Peter Fletcher, this is a long- standing Ypsi tradition.
